In 2019 the NFL went into a frenzy when future Hall of Famer Tom Brady was set to leave the New England Patriots, who he was drafted by back in 2000.

Rumours spread like wildfire as to where Brady would end up before he eventually signed with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and was joined by former Patriots teammate Rob Gronkowski who came out of retirement to play for the Bucs.

Brady led the Buccaneers to their second Super Bowl championship, they’re first in 18 years, at the end of his first season with a 31-9 win over defending champions the Kansas City Chiefs at Super Bowl LV.

It has been revealed that the Miami Dolphins held unlawful negotiations with Brady while he was still at the Patriots and, as a result, have been stripped of their first-round pick in the 2023 NFL draft and their third-round pick in the 2024 draft.

ESPN revealed that Dolphins vice chairman Bruce Beal held multiple discussions with Brady about joining the franchise as their quarterback and a limited partner.

Brady briefly retired this offseason, and it has also been revealed that the Dolphins have once again broken the NFL’s anti-tampering rule and held further discussions with the 45-year-old.

NFL commissioner Roger Goodell has put out an official statement concerning the matter.

“The investigators found tampering violations of unprecedented scope and severity,” said Goodell

“I know of no prior instance of a team violating the prohibition on tampering with a head coach and star player, to the potential detriment of multiple other clubs, over several years.

“Similarly, I know of no prior instance in which ownership was directly involved in the violations.”

Brady has rejoined the Buccaneers for season 2022 with the team favourites to take out the NFC Championship and are one of the favourites to win the Super Bowl.

Miami, on the other hand, are big outsiders and will likely be in the fight for the last couple of playoff spots in the AFC.

This situation could seriously impact the Dolphin’s season and derail their chances of making any real improvement in 2022.
